Last night Tony Blair swum the Tiber and became a Roman Catholic and for the full news story see - http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/1/hi/uk/7157409.stm
Whilst not now a "Roman" Catholic, although I was once a so called "Convert" to Roman Catholicism, I am very pleased that Tony Blair's spiritual pilgrimage has led him in this direction and congratulate him. I hope he will be very happy. I am sure that it must be a tremendous joy to his whole close family.
I can well understand how he has waited until now to take the plunge as it were. One is never a "nutter" to follow ones spiritual calling as a Christian, and I do not think that this was a good reason for the delay, but I can see how his moving to RC'ism might have adversely affected some political aspects. The delay has probably avoided some controversy that some might have worked up had he still been PM.
I am most grateful to my own experience of becoming a Roman Catholic Christian. It has enriched my Christian faith tremendously, including by putting me much more in touch with the ancient heritage of the Christian faith, and its outworking through the centuries, that cannot be grasped through raw Bible knowledge alone.
(Incidentally, in reality, one does not "Convert" to the Roman Catholic Church. One can only convert to becoming a Christian, in faith and love with Christ. However in transferring to the Orthodox and Catholic faith, as new RC's do, one comes into a fuller experience of Christian faith than before, the faith of most of our ancestors if our country has an ancient Christian heritage. It is much easier to do now that the RC Church, as a result of the Reformation, and its inner reform, no longer has features that Luther was quite correct in preaching against).

How about some good news for a change !
In the novel "In His Steps" by Charles Sheldon a newspaper publisher decided that in future he was only going to publish news that was good. He suffered a lot as a result, (and I am not sure if I agree that not giving the results of a boxing match was necessarily on target), but the book most certainly has an important point.
(For anyone interested see http://tinyurl.com/23meuz to download a copy and the Wikipaedia entry at http://tinyurl.com/275mz3 for more information).
Of course it is good to be aware of bad things that happen in the world. It helps us to be aware of dangers and concerns that need serious consideration and remedies where possible. At the same time, I believe that for every bit of bad news, there must also be some good news as well. If I ruled the world, Mr Pickwick (musical) style, I would have all news media have at least one good news story published for every bad news story.
Let's face it. Life is not always a bed of roses and can be extremely hard and painful for many of us. Why should we turn on our TV's or pick up our newspapers etc. just to have our worries stoked up every day. Wake up news media, we all need good news as well !

Seeking the Truth Blog
Using my right to freedom of speech, I hope to use this blog to air my views on current news and affairs.
Please understand that I intend absolutely no disrespect for anyone, implied or seemingly shown. Similarly I am not a racist or any other "name call" that some like to use. I just want to share my personal views on some of the ideas around that I think are mistaken.
If anything I say has the effect of annoying anyone, I sincerely ask their forgiveness. I do not intend this in any shape or form. As well as getting things off my chest, I hope that perhaps my thoughts might make some small contribution to helping to put things right where they may have gone wrong.
With best wishes
